Configuring an eduroam connection on Mac OS X

Perform the following procedure to configure an eduroam connection using 802.1X supplicant, which is a standard feature of OS X (this procedure assumes use of version 10.7).

Configuration

  1. Open [System Preferences] from the Dock.

  2. Click the [Network] icon in the [System Preferences] window.

  3. Click [Turn Wi-Fi On] if [Wi-Fi] is Off.

  4. Click [eduroam] under [Network Name].

  5. Clear the [Remember this network] box, enter the user ID (the name of the institution following the @ mark is also required) and password, then click [Join].
  6. Click [Continue]. (The information hidden in the pixilated part depends on the institution.)

  7. Enter the user ID and password of an administrator of the Mac you are using and click [Update Settings].

  8. Once the status changes to [Connected], click [Apply] and close the window.

  9. Click the Wi-Fi icon in the menu bar and click [eduroam]. You will be prompted to enter your user ID and password; the connection will be established once you enter them.
