Applying for New YNU Login IDs

Points to note about applying for a new YNU user account

  • You must obtain a YNU Login ID (user ID and password) to use the services provided by YNU that require user identification.
  • To apply for an account, contact the General Affairs Section in your department, who can perform the necessary verification of your employment status (you may apply through the Student Affairs Section in your department if you need an account for accessing Web Syllabus).
  • Make sure to read the Terms of Use before applying for a YNU Login ID.
  • As a general rule, applications are accepted from one month before the planned date of the applicant’s assignment to YNU.

Eligible individuals

Faculty members (including faculty of affiliated schools), as well as staff members of departments, the Engineering Technology Section, and each center (staff members who do not use diskless PCs for administrative use and staff members of some administrative offices of departments where administrative networks and diskless PCs are not used)

The following people are not eligible (applications for them shall be made by information system coordinators or floor leaders):
Full-time staff members, replacement staff members, part-time staff members, and temporary staff members of the secretariat and department administrative offices

Rules for assigning YNU Login IDs (user IDs)

User IDs are issued based on each user’s name in accordance with the following rules.

“Surname”.“First letter of the given name”-(hyphen)“Three check alphanumeric characters”
  • IDs for some foreign nationals may be structured as “Given name”.“First letter of the surname”-(hyphen)“Three check alphanumeric characters”.
  • The three check alphanumeric characters are generated as a random combination of letters. Note that you cannot specify the desired combination.

Rules for assigning email addresses

Email addresses are issued based on each user’s name in accordance with the following rules.

“Surname”-(hyphen)“Given name”-(hyphen)“Two check alphanumeric characters”@ynu.ac.jp
  • Email addresses for some foreign nationals may be structured as “Given name”-(hyphen)“Surname”-(hyphen)“Two check alphanumeric characters”@ynu.ac.jp .
  • The two check alphanumeric characters are generated as a random combination of letters. Note that you cannot specify the desired combination.

Application procedure

  1. Fill in the YNU Login ID Application form and submit it to the General Affairs Section of your department.

    Part-time faculty members who need an account to use Web Syllabus or another system should file an application to the Student Affairs Section.
    If you are a foreign national guest researcher, attach the certificate of acceptance from your department.
  2. We will notify the coordinator once registration is complete. You will receive notification of approval from the coordinator.
